Today I withdrew from the Republican Party and became an unaffiliated. Born and raised a Democrate, switched to being a Republic and now trying to find solice in being unaffiliated.
For me, it is time to step back as I have realized that neither party represents the value that made America great.
For me, to be an American means that I am able to live with people with different opinions. It makes me want to hear and discuss opinions with diverse people so that I can understand and learn. I may never agree but I can always try to understand. I can support a different agenda without seeing you as my enemy
It is disheartening to hear that political discourse has become so toxic and intolerant that families cannot discuss politics during the holidays. Yet, I am steadfast in my belief that freedom of speech is the backbone of our democracy, and we must strive to engage in political conversations with civility and respect.
I cannot, in good conscience, support candidates who place their egos above the well-being of our country and its citizens. I cannot tolerate candidates that classify people with common thoughts as unamericans or deplorables group of intolerants, or fakes. I will cast my vote for the candidate who I believe embodies my core principles and values.
Let us remember that winning at any cost is not true victory. Instead, we must work towards a more unified nation that values and respects diverse opinions and ideas. Together, we can create a better future for all Americans.
